What is skool?

So you've been browsing the internet. You've spent a bit of time on YouTube. You're a fan of Alex Hormozi. And you keep hearing about skool. In fact you've heard about it so much that you decided to search for it to find out what it is? And now you a here. Reading this post. Wishing I would just get to the point. Well, no-one is stopping you from scrolling buddy!

But seriously. Let's take a look at what skool is. What the point of it is. And whether you too should get involved. Or, if you should completely ignore it and move on with your life. Spoiler alert, you are probably going to want to get involved.

The community platform

So what's it all about? I hear you ask. Well, according to the skool website - Skool is a community platform where you can discover communities or create your own. Sounds interesting. Let's take a closer look.

Skool discovery page reveals all

A trip to the discovery page is the first place you should start. Having a scroll through this page should provide some clarity about what skool is.

By doing this, you will see that you can learn anything on this platform. A quick glance through this page will reveal groups on masculinity, digital growth, music production, sales, software development, jumping high (yes really), being a barber, copy writing and much much more.

Not only can you learn anything, but by this logic you can also teach anything on skool. If this isn't getting your brain firing yet, I don't know what will. I will explain further.

What is the point of skool?

So as mentioned previously. Skool is a platform where you can discover communities or create your own. But what is the point of these communities? Well in short. They are for educating their members. But it's not the standard education like we had growing up as kids. It's education for things you actually want to learn.

This doesn't have to be academic subjects. But it obviously can be. It's for literally anything. Fitness, making money, art, business. Literally anything. If you want to learn something new. The chances are there is a group for it. And if there isn't a group for it, then there is an opportunity for someone to make one.

How is skool different from other education platforms?

There are of course other online education platforms out there such as Udemy, and Teachable. These are established and good in their own right. But what makes skool different?

1. Gamification

   I have already mentioned this in other posts such as my skool review. There is a big focus on gamification.
   This is in the sense that users are incentivised to actively get involved in communities. This is done by having leaderboards that display the most active/helpful community members. This aspect of the platform helps community owners to grow their groups. As it keeps members coming back and attracts new members who want to rise up through the ranks. This brings me on to the next point nicely...

2. Community

   The next thing that makes skool different from other online course platforms is the focus on community. There is a huge focus on this aspect. Skool encourages students to engage in their communities. This creates a friendly environment where like minded people can help each other and discuss projects. This in turn helps the learning process and makes the whole experience more enjoyable and effective.

Teaching on skool

On the flip side of this, skool is also for teachers. Again, not teachers in the traditional sense who teach Maths and English. Although this is of course a possibility. But teachers of how to grow a YouTube channel, or how to trade on the stock market or how to jump higher (yes really). Real practical skills.

To sum up...

So to sum up. Skool is an educational community platform. Users can learn new skills and interact with other users who are also learning. You can be a member of communities and also run your own.

The biggest selling points are it's focus on community and gamification. These features encourage users to take action on the website and harbour a pleasant environment. They also encourage users to keep returning as there is always the opportunity to gain more points and rise up leaderboards.
