Uploading a YouTube Video Every Day for 90 Days

Uploading a YouTube Video Every Day for 90 Days

Over the last 90 days I have posted a video to YouTube every day. I didn’t know what the result of this would be when I started. But its safe to say I am pleased I did it! Let’s take a look at how I did it, why I did it and the results of doing it.

Why did I upload so regularly?

So why did I upload a video every day for 90 days? Well the answer to that question is a simple one. I was motivated to do so. Let me explain… In April 2024 I noticed that my subscriber count on YouTube was approaching the 800 mark. It was at 796 or something like that. This sparked something inside of me. I thought to myself – “800 isn’t far away from 1000.”

It was the realisation that I was nearly at 1000 subscribers that pushed me to start taking YouTube more seriously. Until this point I had been uploading videos sporadically. Sometimes I would have gaps of longer than a month between uploads. So I wanted to see what would happen if I actually became consistent. I was surprised at how quickly I saw results.

How I managed to upload daily videos for 90 days

When I started this challenge, I didn’t think about the possible obsticles I would come up against. But its fair to say there were a few. The main challenges I encountered were: the amount of time it was taking, the number of ideas I needed to produce and the amount of energy it was consuming. Here is how I overcame these challenges.

Overcoming challenges

Making videos takes time. And I don’t think I appreciated just how much time it takes until I started. Its not the time it takes to film the video, that doesn’t take long. Its the time spent creating a thumbnail, thinking of a title, writing a description and then there’s the big one… time spent editing the video.

Prior to getting serious I would be creating videos sporadically, at most producing videos twice a week. This meant it didn’t matter too much that I was putting in a day’s worth of editing into each video. But with daily uploading I simply didn’t have this time. With this in mind I knew I had to change something to streamline the whole process. Something that would make it realistic for me to be able to upload every day. So here’s what I did. I created a formula. A formula to make videos in the most efficient way possible.

I created a system

I decided to make a video series where I could produce videos quickly and easily, in bulk. Get them ready and have them scheduled in advanced. To do this I went down the route of coding tutorial videos. These videos were very specific and didn’t require much brain power on my part. They followed an almost identical structure each time, which meant I could create them quickly, and easily without making mistakes.

These videos were guides showing how to convert DaisyUI components into re-useable Vue.js components. I was able to batch create 5 or 6 videos at a time, and very quickly. This was game changing for me. And there was an amazing side effect that I had not even considered would happen. Because I had a weeks worth of videos scheduled in advance. This freed up my mental energy, and I was able to easily come up with ideas for other videos! I would then create other types of videos and schedule them in among the batch created videos.

What happened when I uploaded a video every day?

So here’s the interesting bit. What actually happened when I uploaded every day for 90 days. Well, whilst the results aren’t mind blowing, they do show significant growth. I created my YouTube channel in August 2022, and it took until April 2024 to reach 796 subscribers. So that’s 18 (ish) months to gain just under 800 subscribers.

By uploading consistently for just 3 months (90 days), this number grew to 1290. Thats an increase of 494 subscribers. So I have gone from gaining an average of 44 subscribers per month to an average of 165 subscribers per month. That is over 3 times as many subscribers per month on average.

Should you upload every day too?

So should you do the same as me and upload a video every day? In all honesty, the answer is I don’t know. It depends on your situation. If you have the time to do this. If you have enough topics that you can create videos for. And many other factors. For me, the results speak or themselves and show a definite progression in the right direction.

What I will say, is that if you do decide to upload every day, make sure you have a system in place that allows you to do this with minimum effort. This is what has helped me to stay consistent and allowed me to keep posting daily to this day.
